The Ship's Store & Rigging is a true marine chandlery and has been in business since 1975. It is owned and operated by John Deveau, a lifelong island resident of three generations. John's grandfather was a ship builder in Newport. The staff have been at the store on the average of 10 years and have dedicated much of their working careers to the marine industry. They are professionals and know their business.

   Our main store is located right on Narragansett Bay at the East Passage Yachting Center in Portsmouth, RI. One of Southern New England's largest marinas. We have outfitted most every major racing yacht in the East Coast. We have a tremendous reputation for knowing where to find the most difficult parts for just about any boat made. Our extensive rigging and consignment shop are worth the visit.

   For the last few years we have also had a store in downtown Newport, RI. We are located on a public dinghy dock on historic Bowen’s Wharf. Here we offer in-harbor rigging services via our store boat. We have the same prices as our main store and offer the same great service. Our distributors deliver daily to both locations.
During the season both stores are open 7 days a week. Our Portsmouth store maintains an 8:30-5:30 schedule while our Newport location is open 8-8 in season. During the winter our Newport location closes and our Portsmouth store reduces hours, closing on Sundays.

   The Ship's Store & Rigging has been awarded the status of a Preferred Yacht Paint Center by AKZO Nobel, the makers of Interlux Yacht Paint and Finishes. We have extensive knowledge of marine painting applications and have been known for this and our low prices for many years.
